Tickets are officially on sale for the next edition of Ngemi Festival, dubbed Ngemi 4.0 – a fast-rising cultural celebration popular among the Gen Z and millennial crowd.

The festival is scheduled to take place on May 31 and June 1, 2025, in Naivasha, with early buzz already building across social media platforms.

According to organisers, tickets for Day 1 and Day 2 are each going for Ksh 3,000, while a season pass for both days is available at a discounted price of Ksh 5,000.

The ticket announcement, posted on the festival’s Instagram page, urges fans to “Run, don’t walk!” as demand is expected to soar.

Founded less than a year ago, Ngemi Festival has quickly become one of Kenya’s most talked-about events, especially among youth drawn to its vibrant fusion of music, food, fashion, and cultural expression. Rooted in Kikuyu tradition, the word “Ngemi” refers to a joyful ululation – a gesture of celebration, victory and community.

One of the founders of the festival, first held in August 2024, has called it a cultural movement.

“It’s not an event first and foremost, it’s an experience,” said co-founder Njoki. “It is a celebration of art, music, food and culture.”

Previous editions have featured notable artists including Ayrosh, Wanjiine, Wacuka, and even a surprise appearance by Mugiithi superstar Samidoh, drawing massive crowds and generating trending moments on TikTok, where festivalgoers share dance challenges and fashion statements rooted in tradition.

The event has become so popular over a short amount of time that organisers have had to warn fans against fake posters, merchandise, events and even tickets.

Giving a warning on their official social media platform, the organisers said the warning was to preserve the event’s integrity.

“We’ve seen fake event flyers, unofficial groups, and counterfeit merchandise circulating. If it’s not from our official pages, website, or trusted partners, it’s NOT us. This isn’t about gatekeeping; it’s about protecting our people and ensuring you get the real Ngemi Homecoming experience,” the advisory read.

Festival-goers are encouraged to secure their tickets from the official Little platform.
