Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has hailed the outcome of Thursday’s by-elections, saying it marked more than a routine political win, but an early indicator of Kenya’s political mood ahead of 2027.
Mudavadi particularly welcomed UDA candidate David Ndakwa’s victory in Malava parliamentary race describing it as a strong signal of Western Kenya’s growing confidence in President William Ruto and his administration.
According to Prime CS, the voters had delivered a clear message of trust in his leadership and reaffirmed their support for the Kenya Kwanza government.
He paid tribute to leaders who rallied behind the campaign, extending special recognition to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa, MPs from Kakamega County, President Ruto’s Personal Assistant Farouk Kibet, and local leaders, clergy, women groups, and youth mobilizers.
Mudavadi said the unity demonstrated by Western Region leaders during the by-election was encouraging and should be preserved as the country approaches the 2027 General Election.
He noted that the Malava result offered an early glimpse into the political mood on the ground, underscoring the region’s trust in the ruling party.
He assured residents of Malava and the broader Western Region that the government remains committed to delivering development projects across the Luhya community and the entire country through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Mudavadi added that leaders would intensify community engagement to assess the progress of projects promised during campaigns and ensure accountability.
