The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a major recruitment drive offering over 44,000 opportunities for teachers across the country.

In a notice published on Tuesday, the Commission is seeking to recruit 21,313 permanent and pensionable staff across various grades, including principals, deputy principals, headteachers, senior teachers, curriculum support officers, and lecturers in Teacher Training Colleges.

The vacancies include 674 principals in regular schools, 15 in special needs institutions, 971 deputy principals I (Regular), 12 deputy principals I (SNE), 930 deputy principals II (Regular), and 10 deputy principals II (TTCs).

Also available are 490 senior principal posts and 105 for chief principals across various institutions.

The recruitment also targets thousands of other roles, including headteachers, senior teachers, curriculum support officers, and lecturers in TTCs.

Successful applicants will be posted to institutions where vacancies exist, with the application deadline set for Monday, August25, 2025 at midnight.

TSC indicated that all applications must be submitted online through the TSC portal, as manual submissions will not be considered

Further, the commission is recruiting 24,000 teacher interns for Junior Secondary Schools to support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

The internship programme will run for one year, offering a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000, subject to statutory deductions.

To qualify for the internship, applicants must be Kenyan citizens with at least a diploma in education, have a minimum grade of C+ in KCSE (and in two teaching subjects), and be registered teachers with the TSC.

Persons with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.

Applications for internship positions open on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 and close on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at midnight.

The commission emphasised the recruitment remains free of charge, warning applicants against engaging fraudsters.

“The Teachers Service Commission forewarns applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment,” TSC warned.

The recruitment drive is expected to ease teacher shortages in schools, strengthen the roll-out of Competency Based Education (CBE), and boost staffing in both regular and special needs learning institutions across the country.
