His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, arrived this evening at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, where he was warmly received by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who also serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
The visit marks Prince Rahim Aga Khan V’s first official trip to Kenya since he assumed leadership of the Ismaili community following the passing of his father, the late His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, in February 2025.
Mudavadi highlighted that the visit is at the invitation of President William Ruto and underscores the shared commitment to strengthening ties between Kenya and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
Discussions are expected to centre on enhancing existing partnerships and exploring new areas of cooperation that will positively impact millions of lives.
The AKDN is recognized for its philanthropic efforts and development initiatives in Kenya, with significant investments in education, healthcare, media, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
During the high-level reception, Prime CS Mudavadi was accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Aden Duale.
