Thamani Awards 2025, a new initiative aimed at recognising and celebrating Kenyan mothers for their contributions to family, community, and national development, has been launched, organisers have announced.
“These are not your typical awards,” the statement reads in part. “From educators shaping young minds to unsung heroes balancing careers and caregiving.”
The awards, unveiled this week, will culminate in a ceremony on May 11, 2025, at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, Nairobi, on the eve of Mother’s Day.
According to a statement from the organising secretariat, the Thamani Awards will feature 25 categories, including 21 competitive awards and four honorary recognitions. The top honour, Super Mum 2025, will recognise a mother raising a child with special needs.
Other categories include Best Media Personality, Outstanding Educator, and awards for women making notable contributions in business, healthcare, and social impact.
Nominations are open from April 15 to April 20, with the public invited to submit entries. Both public nominations and self-nominations are allowed. A shortlist of nominees will be released on April 22, followed by public voting from April 23 to May 5.
Organisers described the awards as a platform to highlight “stories of love, leadership, and resilience” among Kenyan mothers.
The event will also include live performances, storytelling segments, and official tributes during the awards ceremony.

- Entertainer of the Year – Celebrating joy-makers in arts and culture
- Educationist of the Year – For mentors lighting the path to knowledge
- Sports Personality – Honoring athletic excellence and perseverance
- Best Executive 2025 – Recognizing visionary leadership
- Best Mothers’ Initiative – Grassroots projects transforming lives
- Best Mothers’ Product – Innovations easing maternal journeys
- Best Mothers’ Station – Media platforms empowering mothers
- Best Company CSR – Corporate programs uplifting families
- Best Social Media Personality – Digital storytellers building communities
- Best Online Platform – Tech-driven spaces fostering connection
- Voice of Reason 2025 – Advocates for justice and equity
- Best Digital Credit Provider – Financial inclusion champions
- Mental Health Champion – Healing hearts and minds
- Innovation and Technology – Trailblazers rewriting the future
- Outstanding Community Leader – Pillars of grassroots change
- Emerging Community Leader – Rising stars igniting local impact
- Environmental Impact Award – Guardians of Kenya’s natural heritage
