Two men have been arrested while transporting six pieces of elephant tusks weighing 26.4 kilograms along the Lodwar-Kalokol road in Turkana County.
Turkana Central Sub-County Police Commander Evans Ombui said the duo was arrested following a tip off from members of the public.
The two were transporting the trophies on a motorbike. Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officer in charge of Turkana County, Elijah Chege reiterated their commitment to wildlife protection and conservation efforts.
He lauded members of the public for their cooperation and gave a stern warning to those engaging in poaching and trading in wildlife trophies.
The two suspects will be arraigned in Lodwar law courts on Monday.
