Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says the government is determined to win the war against drug abuse.
Speaking in the outskirts of Garissa town at Madarasa Hafsa Bintu Sirin, Duale regretted that drug use in the area is on the rise and it was a big contributor to some of the ills bedevilling society.
“The CS interior Professor Kithure Kindiki has spoken to the nation on behalf of the cabinet. He has declared the war on drugs and drugs abuse. As one of the manifesto of kenya kwanza government of president William Ruto, we cannot build a country where general after generation are being destroyed by drugs,” said Duale.
He warned anyone one found be involved directly or indirectly in the illegal business will face the full force of the law.
The CS further said that manufacture, advertisement and sell of shisha is illegal and has been banned in the country.
In Garissa a total of ten people have been arrested as the crackdown intensifies.
Bhang, cocaine and miraa are among the most abused drugs making the county fall on Nacada’s list of counties affected by drug abuse menace.
