Gladys Wairimu Kariuki, the wife of the late GG Kariuki—former Internal Security Minister and former Laikipia County Senator has passed away.
According to family spokesman Jimmy Waigwa, Mrs. Kariuki died while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital after a short illness.

Born in 1945, Mrs. Kariuki was a distinguished figure in Laikipia County, known for her dedication to public service and community empowerment. A prominent farmer in Rumuruti Ward, she served in various capacities over the years, including as Chairlady of the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO), Laikipia branch, a councillor in the former Nyahururu Municipal Council, and as a teacher at Ngarenaro Primary School in Nyahururu town.
She will be fondly remembered for her tireless efforts to unite and uplift women through numerous empowerment programs during her tenure at MYWO.
A devoted member of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), she was actively involved in congregations in Rumuruti, Nyahururu, and Nairobi.
Gladys Wairimu Kariuki is survived by her five children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of service, faith, and community dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
