After missing the 2022 tournament in Morocco, Guinea will be making its fourth appearance at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Syli National, who placed third in 2020, are keen to improve on their best-ever showing.

With their renowned offensive style of play, Guinea is set to be one of the tournament’s most notable teams under the leadership of Souleymane Camara, who led the squad through the qualifications.

Camara has already announced his final 23-man roster, which includes seasoned midfielder Ibrahima Sory Sankhon among other young and seasoned players.

Group C, which includes South Africa, Uganda, Niger, and Algeria, will be centred in Zanzibar and includes the Syli National.

Currently in residential training in Morocco, Guinea has already played two friendlies against Senegal, settling for a barren draw in the first match before losing by a solitary goal to the Lions of Teranga in the 2nd fixture.

Guinea will play their opening match against Niger on August 4th at the Mandela Stadium, Namboole.

Qualification

Guinea secured their place at CHAN 2024 by defeating Guinea-Bissau 6-2 in aggregate victory in the second  round  of the qualifiers.

The Syli National dominated the first leg 4-1 in Abidjan and completed the job with a 2-1 away win in Bissau.

Coach: Souleymane Camara

Despite leading Guinea to qualification, Camara won’t be on the bench at CHAN because of CAF’s licensing restrictions.

Camara, who has established a solid foundation for the team and is well-known for his tactical prowess and preference for   the 4-3-3 formation, has made sure they are confident and well-prepared for CHAN 2024.

Star Player:Mohamed Saliou Bangoura (Hafia FC)

Bangoura,who is only 20 years old, has become a vital member of Guinea’s team. Bangoura, a dynamic attacker with speed, skill, and remarkable finishing ability, scored goals in both legs against Guinea-Bissau to help Guinea qualify. He will constantly provide a threat to defenders in the CHAN tournament thanks to his keen attacking instincts.
