Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale Friday flagged off 316 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) graduates at Afya House, Nairobi, whose internship placements were reinstated following a Ministry audit into posting irregularities.
“This morning, we correct a wrong and fulfil a promise,” said CS Duale. “These 316 graduates met all requirements but were mistakenly left out. Today, we restore their rightful place in our health system.”
A Ministry investigation revealed that 42 individuals who hadn’t completed studies and 306 who had not graduated were wrongly posted, while 339 eligible graduates were excluded 316 of whom have now been posted.
“We are sealing loopholes and safeguarding the integrity of our internship programme,” said the CS. “To the interns reporting on 4th August serve with humility, integrity, and patriotism. You are the future of healthcare in this country.”

The move follows the initial posting of 6,484 interns across the country on June 30, 2025.

The number of medical officer intern commissioned in June was 1,147, dentist intern 87, pharmacist intern 500, BSc clinical officer intern 659.
This as well as 1,993 clinical officer intern (Diploma), 2,098 BSc nursing officer all totaling to 6,484 interns
The CS assured that the interns will be posted to accredited facilities for a 12-month structured clinical training program, in line with global standards.
