President William Ruto is expected to give key address during the 9th Devolution Conference which kicked off on Monday this week.
The conference being hosted in Homa Bay County will have discussions around the theme, For The People, For Prosperity; Devolution as a Catalyst for Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice.
According to the Council of Governors this year’s objective of the conference is to assess the role of devolution in promoting equity, inclusion and social justice; and provide an exploratory platform for consultations and dialogue on how devolved governance can be designed to accelerate development and close the socio- economic divide.
The event which is expected to have at least 10,000 delegates from Kenya and internationally, targets to support the establishment of plans and actions which can be adopted by counties to become centres of excellent service delivery.
The social delegates will also deliberate issues touching on social justice in promoting socio-economics as well as candid conversations on allocation of resources to address systemic inequalities and promoting fairness in the access of finances by all.
At least 500 exhibitors from counties and national government are also expected at the conference which will end this Friday.
