Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has eulogized the late Raila Odinga has a national icon who sacrificed his life to Kenya.
Speaking during the burial service of late Raila in Bondo in Siaya County, Kenyatta said his selfless deeds to country will live forever and he will be greatly missed.
In a short speech, the former Head of State thanked the ODM party for producing a leader who united and sacrificed a lot for Kenya in expense of his own freedom.
On Friday during the State Funeral of the late Odinga, Kenyatta warned against the reversal of democratic freedoms that Kenyans enjoy that were fought for Odinga, a staunch campaigner and defender of democracy.
He described Raila as one of the key founders of shaping Kenya’s democratic journey and a man who never got tired in defending his country.
“As Kenyans, we won’t allow human rights, our democracy and everything else Raila fought for to be reversed,” said the former Head of State.
“Kenya’s story cannot be written without Raila Amolo Odinga. He was there when the call for multiparty democracy was dangerous. He was there when we needed voices to push for reform,” said the former Head of State.
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo also eulogized Raila Odinga as a great friend and whom they shared great love for their respective countries and the African continent.
Obasanjo said Raila’s passionate love for Kenya and Africa is unmatched and his insights for the rejuvenation of the continent will be missed.
