Information and technology leaders from across Africa are expected to converge in Kenya later next month to discuss emerging trends in the sector.
The CIO100 Symposium which is now in its 17th year will also engage on the impacts on various sectors such as health, agriculture, finance and education.
“The key thing is to bring professionals from across Africa to discuss emerging trends and what are the new technologies corporate are using to turnaround the business and build revenue,” said Andrew Karanja dx5 director.
Karanja said the CIO 100 Symposium which has had 1,200 entries will provide a platform where tech professional will discuss emerging trends companies are adopting to improve services as well as revenue.
According to the CIO100 Megatrends 2025 Report by CIO Africa, 61.2pc of business are adopting cloud computing followed by artificial intelligence, big data analytics and cyber security with 54.8pc, 43.8pc and 43.6pc respectively.
“One of the things that we have done over the 17 years is to make sure that we not only are we focusing on the awards, we also focus on a lot of interaction, knowledge sharing, side events and professionals who will be there to talk about the technologies,” added Karanja.
Avenue Healthcare head of IT Geffrey Gitagia who emerged CIO of the year in 2024 was recognized for developing a system to handle patients from the front office desk to checkout.
“Avenue Kiosks has helped us reduce turnaround time for our patients and of course this comes with improved patients experience and also other benefits with statistics that we need to collect and enhance next iteration of the kiosk,” he added.
The event will have participation of tech leaders from 13 African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa.
