Kajiado County’s 50-year-old Caroline Mmbone emerged among the winners of the SportPesa Midweek Jackpot, walking away with KSh 9.5 million alongside Stanley Kiptoo and Joseph Lagho, who each claimed the same amount.
A mother of six and a businesswoman specializing in school uniforms and shoes, Caroline’s journey into gaming began at home. Curious about how her five sons were making small earnings, she asked them to teach her. What started as interest soon evolved into a weekly family routine, with the household regularly placing jackpot bets together.
Despite a long period without success, she remained persistent. Her breakthrough came when she placed a bet on her own without the usual family analysis, a spontaneous decision that changed her fortunes.
“I couldn’t believe what I saw in my account,” she recalled.
She immediately woke one of her sons, and within hours, the entire family had gathered, first in disbelief and then in celebration after confirming the win.
Caroline credited her husband for his unwavering support, noting that he often assisted with analysis, terming the win a collective family achievement.
She now plans to invest in land in Kajiado, build a family home, and expand her business ventures, saying this will ease the burden of rent and provide stability for her family.
Caroline also urged young people to practice responsible gaming, emphasizing discipline in both time and money spent.
