The High Court has ruled that Sarah Cohen will remain in custody until February 18 when a ruling on her bail application will be delivered.

Sarah Cohen, the widow of Tob Cohen, a former CEO of Philips Electronics East Africa, was previously accused of his murder after his body was discovered in a septic tank at their Kitisuru home in 2019.

However, in 2022, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) withdrew the murder charges against her and her co-accused, Peter Karanja.

During the court hearing on Monday, the DPP opposed Cohen’s release on bail, arguing that two protected witnesses had yet to testify and that releasing her could compromise the case.

However, Sarah’s defense team opposed the decision arguing that denying her bail infringed on her constitutional rights.
