Al-Hilal have broken the world record for most consecutive wins by a top-flight team.
The Saudi Pro league side’s 2-0 win over Al-Ittihad in the Asian Champions League was the 28th victory in a row for the top flight club, making them Saudi Arabia’s most decorated team.
They have now surpassed Welsh side, The New Saints’ record of 27 straight wins that dates back to 2016.
Al-Hilal who boast a long list of high-class player like Neymar – who joined from PSG on a deal of 90m Euros, Aleksandar Mitrovic and ex-Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, have won every game since a 1-1 draw with Damac on 21st September.
Despite Neymar being out with a knee injury, Mitrovic has been influential in their winning run, scoring 26 of his side’s 81 goals, in a streak that includes 16 league games, three domestic cup matches and nine in the Asian Champions League.
Former Benfica and Flamengo boss Jorge Jesus has been on the thick of things on the touchline, ensuring the team’s success, and now the team sits comfortably on the top of the league, 12 points clear of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
