Deputy President Kithure Kindiki  has said the Kenya Kwanza administration’s Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) is providing significant advantages to Kenyans just two years after its implementation.

According to Kindiki, various programmes initiated by President William Ruto’s administration, aimed at benefiting every citizen, have been effective catalysts for change and economic empowerment.

“We are making significant progress in the implementation of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to increase the household incomes for the vast majority of our citizens at the bottom of the economic pyramid,” he said.

During a public engagement mission in Kigumo, Murang’a County, Kindiki noted that crucial sectors are experiencing robust growth, positively impacting Kenyans and their livelihoods.

“Through deliberate, comprehensive and long-term reforms in the agricultural sector, including the subsidized fertilizer programme, cracking down on cartels and strengthening the management of cooperative societies, our farmers are earning more from the coffee, tea, dairy and sugarcane value chains,” he said.

“Coffee prices have surged to between Ksh. 110 and Ksh. 148 this season, the highest in 35 years,” added Kindiki.

Despite the success of many of these programmes, Kindiki emphasized that the government will continue to work to ensure no member of Kenyan society is left behind in line with the government’s economic development agenda.

“To accelerate the growth of small-scale businesses and dignify the daily toil of Mama Mboga, hawkers, and Boda Boda riders, the government is constructing 400 modern markets across the 290 constituencies,” he said.

“In Murang’a County, 15 markets are at various stages of completion and additional 12 are in the pipeline. The Government will also spend 1.1 billion shillings to connect 16,000 new households to electricity in Murang’a County. Kigumo Constituency residents will benefit from new electricity connections at a cost of 122 million shillings,” he explained.
