CS Nakhumicha inaugrates New Social Health Authority Board

Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha on Monday inaugurated the New Social Health Authority (SHA) Board.

The board consists of Dr Timothy Olweny who is the Chairperson.

Other members include PS Harry Kimtai, a representative of the PS Treasury, Acting Health Director General Patrick Amoth, Francis Atwoli,  Zakayo Kariuki, and Jacinta Mutegi.

The six were appointed via a gazette notice on November 22.

The appointment came after the cabinet proposed the scrapping of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) after four bills were tabled in parliament.

The four bills were passed and signed into law by President William Ruto.

NHIF will now be replaced by three funds which include the Primary Healthcare Fund, Social Health Insurance and Emergency Fund and the Chronic and Critical Illness Fund.
