Diaspora Affairs PS outlines funding priorities in meeting with MPs

The Principal Secretary of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, on Tuesday outlined key funding priorities aimed at enhancing the country’s engagement with its global diaspora community.

During her appearance before the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations, where she presented the annual Revenue and Expenditure estimates for the 2025/2026 Financial Year, the PS confirmed that her department will focus on four broad areas that reflect the country’s commitment to enhancing diplomatic outreach and strengthening ties with Kenyans living and working abroad.

Njogu stated that her department will continue to advocate for the protection and welfare of the diaspora, which includes establishing safe houses, providing legal support, staffing, and offering evacuation funds, among other initiatives.

Additionally, she informed the Committee, led by Belgut MP Nelson Koech, that facilitating Kenyan talent access to the global market, engaging the diaspora, and enhancing service delivery are strategic priorities for her department in the 2025/2026 Financial Year.

The PS was accompanied by senior State Department officials, including Amb. Isaiya Kabira (Secretary for Investments, Skills and Entrepreneurship), Mr. Daniel Mwaura (Director/CPPD), Mr. Gideon Gichana (Senior Chief Finance Officer), Ms. Margaret Wamoto (Director/Administration), Mr. Obiero Makori (Director/SCM), Ms. Polly Maingi (Head of Accounting Unit), Ms. Caroline Nderi (Deputy Director, HRM&D), Ms. Lilian Miliza (SPFO), Ms. Carolyne Maina (FO1), and Mr. Ledama Meisashi (FSO/OPS).
