A 73-year-old Dutch national, convicted on 10 counts of various offences of child pornography, sexual communication with a child, indecent act with a child, and child abuse, has been jailed for ten years and fined Ksh 3 million.
In addition to the prison term and fines, the court also ordered him to pay Ksh 3 million in restitution to the victims, which takes precedence over the fines.
The Milimani Children’s Court found Jan Veld, alias Teacher Jan, Dad, and Mzungu, guilty of six counts of child pornography, two counts of sexual communication with a child, one count of committing an indecent act with a child and one count of child abuse.
The offences were committed between April 2022 and November 2023.
Prosecution Counsel Linda Ndambiri and Victor Preston Owuor said the court heard that Jan Veld intentionally exposed a 17-year-old minor, identified as G.S, to obscene audiovisual materials via WhatsApp, with the intent of encouraging the minor to engage in sexual acts.
Following the completion of his prison term, the court also ordered the deportation of Jan IN’T Veld.
