Five chiefs abducted in Mandera by Al-Shabaab gunmen while travelling from Wargadud to Elwak town have been released.
Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, who has started his six-day working tour of the Coast region said the chiefs are now in the hands of Kenyan officials and they will be arriving home soon.
He commended the collaborative efforts between the national and County Governments with the support of the local community in ensuring their release. CS Murkomen commended the officers for making huge sacrifices to secure the country.
He assured that all gangs including those attached to politicians will be dismantled to end crime across the country.
Murkomen said he will tour all the 47 counties to inspect national government projects in efforts to ensure quality delivery of services to Kenyans.
