Foreigner charged for forging marriage certificate in succession case released

A woman who allegedly forged a marriage certificate to use in a succession case has been released on Ksh 500,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 200,000.

Prosecutor had opposed the release of the accused person on bond since she is a foreigner.

Mire was charged with a second count of uttering where it’s alleged that on June 3, 2019 at the High Court of Kenya, with intent to inherit properties of a deceased businessman knowing and fraudulently uttered a purported Muslim Marriage certificate.

Appearing before Chief magistrate Lucas Onyina, the accused had claimed that the purported marriage certificate was genuine issued by Kadhi’s court at Nairobi on September 10, 1993.

However, a letter from the Kadhi’s court dismissing Faduma’s allegations was tabled in court.

The court has set the mentioning of the case for 9th April,2024.
