The National Heroes Council and the Council of Governors will roll out an identification program for heroes and heroines in the counties in a bid to recognize and honor them in their respective regions.
The programme, set to be rolled out in all counties, aims to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities and the nation at large.
The announcement follows a meeting held Monday morning between officials from the National Heroes Council, led by Chief Executive Officer Charles Wambia, and the Council of Governors in Nairobi.
Council of Governors Chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi underscored the importance of devolved units in celebrating local champions, noting that counties play a key role in identifying and preserving the legacies of national and grassroots heroes.
As part of the initiative, the two councils plan to sign a memorandum of understanding to champion the establishment of modern monuments, naming of parks and roads after national Heroes and Heroines in their respective counties.
