Farmers have been asked to embrace the use of biological pesticides as a way of mitigating climate change and solving negative impact towards the environment caused by prolonged use of the chemicals in farming.
Speaking in Kabaa area of Machakos County during a farmers training exercise organised by Mount Kenya University (MKU) in collaboration with University of Nairobi and other partners Prof. Cecilia Moraa Onyago said the move will help farmers who spent too much on buying chemicals pesticides which end up harming the environment in return and low yield.
Speaking at the same function Dr Allan Mueke from Mount Kenya university said the new farming technology using biological pesticides will impact farmers struggling to have high production due to high level of resistant pests on farm produce due to prolonged use chemical pesticides.
The one day training brought over 30 farmers from Machakos County.
