Mudavadi to lead EAC-SADC talks on Eastern DRC security in Harare

The Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi arrived in Harare ahead of the Joint Ministerial Meeting of the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the security situation in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mudavadi co-chair the meeting alongside his counterpart, Prof. Amon Murwira, the Chairperson of the SADC Council of Ministers and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

The Harare meeting is which is a follow-up engagement under the Dar es Salaam resolutions of the joint summit of the Heads of State and Government held on February 8th, 2025 is set to create a comprehensive plan for peace that focused on the root causes of conflict in eastern DRC.

Similarly it is set the process for the transformation of the political climate within the DRC.

CS Mudavadi chaired a Joint Ministerial Meeting of EAC Foreign and Defence Ministers on the security situation in DRC, reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to regional stability and conflict resolution on Monday ahead of the meeting.
