Popular YouTube music collective PHXP held a live recording session at Cavalli stylised Cavalli@The Manor, featuring performances from four top local DJs.

PHXP, short for “Pent House XP,” is DJ Redbone’s popular series of live mix sessions and mixtapes that blend riddims, dancehall, afrobeats, R&B and freestyle sets.

The event featured sets by DJs Redbone, Incredible, Swaj and Sonnia. Attendees gathered at the Westlands-based venue for the recording session, which was themed around the colour purple, with Gordon’s gin sponsoring the event.

The live recording format allowed PHXP to capture performances in a club setting while providing entertainment for guests. The collective has been building its presence in Nairobi’s music scene through similar events that combine live performance with recording opportunities.

The event reflects broader trends in Nairobi’s nightlife sector, where DJs are increasingly organising experiences that serve multiple purposes, from content creation to audience engagement.

Elizabeth Otieno, Brand Manager at Gordon’s, noted the partnership’s alignment with current nightlife trends.

“We’re committed to creating moments that celebrate the zest of life, which for us is really culture, connection and flavour,” she said regarding the collaboration.

The PHXP session at Cavalli@The Manor showed how Nairobi’s nightlife is merging music with content creation, setting the pace for a new wave of entertainment experiences.
