Police in Nairobi have destroyed more than 10,000 litres of illicit brew following a crackdown in Kangemi, Dagoretti Sub-County.
The operation, led by officers from the Nairobi Region, is part of efforts by security agencies to dismantle networks behind the illegal trade.
During the raid, about 50 kilograms of jaggery, five packets of yeast catalyst, and thirteen cartons of second-generation liquor were also recovered.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), investigations are ongoing to track down the suspects believed to be behind the distribution.
“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to the fight against illicit brews and second generation alcohol, which continue to pose grave risks to public health and security,” NPS said in a statement.
Police have urged members of the public to support the operation by sharing information through toll-free hotlines 999, 911, 112, #FichuaKwaDCI 0800 722 203, or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.
