Police FC crowned FKF Premier League Champions

Police FC were on Sunday evening crowned the Football Kenya Federation Premier League Champions for the 1st time in the club’s history.

Police FC were awarded the trophy in a colourful ceremony after their 1-1 draw against Gor Mahia in the last match of the season played at the Ulinzi Complex.

The coronation ceremony was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga, Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and his PS Dr Raymond Omollo and FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga.

Police FC finished the season with 65 points from  34 matches, winning 18, drawing 11 and losing 5 matches.

Gor Mahia finished 2nd on 59 points, followed by Kakamega Homeboyz on 58, a point ahead of 4th placed Tusker FC, while Shabana FC completes the top 5 on 53 points.

Coached by Burundian Etienne Ndayiragije, Police FC won their maiden league title barely four since  earning promotion after being crowned the NSL champions in September 2021.

The team will represent the country in the CAF Champions League next season after competing in the CAF Confederation Cup this season, where they were eliminated by Egyptian side Zamalek FC in the 2nd preliminary round last September.

Kakamega Homeboyz forward Moses Shumah won the golden boot award after bagging 17 goals.
