Principal Secretary of the State Department for Agriculture, Dr. Kiprono Ronoh, has underscored the importance of empowering farmers to foster sustainable development.
Dr. Kiprono noted that farmers play a pivotal role in nation-building, emphasizing the need to enhance their socio-economic well-being by granting them autonomy.
“By equipping them with the tools and opportunities to thrive, farmers can meaningfully contribute to nation-building and create lasting impacts within their communities”, he said
He was speaking during a transformative Farmers’ Empowerment Programme held in Kiprengwe, Kedowa/Kimugul ward, and Chepcholyet, Chepseon Ward, Kipkelion East, Kericho County.
As part of this initiative, the PS donated coffee seedlings to farmers, further supporting their efforts towards sustainable agricultural practices and increased productivity.
“This gesture highlights our commitment to empowering local farmers and fostering economic resilience at the grassroots level”, he observed.
He added, “Through collective effort and visionary leadership, we are taking significant strides towards building a prosperous and food-secure future for all”.
He was flanked by Kericho County MP Hon. Beatrice Kemei, Linet Chepkorir (Bomet), Area MP Joseph Cherorot and Kericho CECM for Agriculture Magerer Langat, as well as a host of MCAs and other key leaders.
