Vilcom Networks has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) in a significant move to promote collaboration between the technology and engineering sectors.

This partnership aims to strengthen industry-academia interactions and empower the next generation of innovators across the country.

Vilcom Networks, well-known for its commitment to providing high-speed internet and bridging the digital divide in Kenya, will join forces with IEK, a professional body dedicated to advancing engineering for societal benefit.

Together, they plan to create opportunities that include hands-on experience for students and graduates through internships and attachments, specialized training programs to enhance engineering skills, joint research and development projects, and the sharing of expertise to drive innovation.

The partnership also focuses on mentoring aspiring engineers and supporting their registration and professional growth.

Speaking during signing ceremony, Agnes Limo, CEO of Vilcom Networks, described the partnership as more than an agreement, calling it an investment in Kenya’s future.

She emphasized that combining cutting-edge technology with engineering excellence will pave the way for transformative solutions that will shape the country’s digital and industrial landscape.

Eng. Harrison Keter, the 1st Vice President of IEK, echoed these sentiments and highlighted the crucial role telecommunications plays in advancing engineering applications and community development.

He praised Vilcom Networks for its strategic position in bridging industry and innovation, aligning with IEK’s mission to promote engineering science and practice in Kenya.

The ceremony was also attended by IEK leaders Eng. Christine Ogut, the 2nd Vice President, and Eng. Jackton Mwembe, Honorary Secretary.

This partnership is expected to enhance Kenya’s engineering capacity and accelerate digital transformation by fostering skilled professionals ready to meet the demands of the evolving industry.
