Murkomen and Chepkemoi crowned 2025 Nairobi City Marathon Champions

Benson Murkomen from Elgeyo Marakwet and Emily Chepkemoi of West Pokot counties are the winners of the 4th edition of the Nairobi City
Marathon held today.

30-year-old Murkomen had finished 8th in 2023 and hit the front at the 37km mark to cross the finish line 1st in 2 hours, 8 minutes and 37
seconds.

Justus Lagat took silver 10 seconds behind the winner, while Albert Kangogo, claimed bronze in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 6 seconds.

Chepkemoi, 26, who trains in Iten, came back stronger after failing to finish in the first edition of the race to take the women’s 42km
title in 2 hours, 25 minutes and 52 seconds ahead of Vivian Jerotich and Lucy Chelele, who finished 2nd and 3rd in 2:26.33 and 2:26.37,
respectively.

Evans Kipchumba emerged victorious in the 21km in 1 hour, 1 minute and 20 seconds, 1 second ahead of Stephen Kimutai, who finished 2nd,
while Nahashon Kipasang completed podium positions in 1 hr, 1 minute and 32 seconds.

Nelvin Jepkemboi took 1 hour, 9 minutes and 25 seconds to win the women’s half marathon, followed by Millicent Jelimo and Emily Chebet
in 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.

The Marathon winners bagged Ksh 3.5 million each, while 2nd place received Ksh 2.25 million and Ksh 1.5 million.

This year’s edition attracted over 15,000 participants in the 42 km, 21 km, and 10 km way run express and the 4km fun run.
