The 22nd edition of the annual Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon has been launched today with a target of raising Ksh 175 million and registering a record 30,000 participants.

The marathon will take place on Sunday, 26 October 2025, at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon has evolved into one of the most anticipated events on Kenya’s sporting calendar, celebrated not just for its competitive spirit but also for its deep community impact.

Since inception, the marathon has welcomed over 300,000 runners and raised more than KES 850 million to support life-changing programmes across the country.

In 2024, the marathon raised KES 171 million, of which KES 43 million was directly invested in Futuremakers programmes in Kenya.

“The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon continues to offer an unforgettable experience, bringing together runners from all walks of life to challenge themselves and celebrate the spirit of community,” said Standard Chartered Kenya & Africa Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing Head Joyce Kibe.

And added: “What makes this event truly special is that every step taken contributes to real change through our Futuremakers initiative, which supports young people, women, and persons with disabilities in Kenya by equipping them with the skills and opportunities they need to build a better future.”

The marathon features seven race categories: the full marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km), 10 km race, 21 km wheelchair race, 5 km Family Fun Run, CEO Challenge, and Corporate Challenge.

The competitive races are expected to attract over 250 elite athletes from around the world.

Last year’s edition featured 206 elite runners, up from 73 in 2023, underscoring the growing prestige of the SCNM as a world-class event.

Registration is already open at a fee of Ksh 2,500 and is expected to run until 30th September.
