Kenyan rapper and songwriter, Toxic Lyrikali, has been selected as Apple Music’s Up Next artist, East Africa.

Artists chosen for this program are picked by Apple Music’s global editors and are positioned as rising stars in East Africa.

For the next month, Toxic Lyrikali will be predominantly placed on Apple Music’s Up Next playlist, amplifying his voice to reach a wider mass of music lovers across East Africa and beyond.

Upon receiving the good news, Toxic excitedly shared the news with his fans, expressing enthusiasm.

This comes weeks after he teased the release of “Backbencher” remix featuring dancehall musician, Koshens.

“Backbencher” has garnered over 4 million views on YouTube. The track held the No. 2 spot on Kenya’s top music trending charts in the first week of August.

Toxic Lyrikali, who first shot to fame with his song “Chinje”, released nine months ago, has become the face of a new wave of Kenyan hip-hop. Known for his gritty, authentic street rap that reflects the everyday struggles of life in Nairobi’s Eastlands, he continues to earn praise for his raw authenticity
