Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has defended her appointment to the Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Riots, reiterating that her loyalty is to Kenyans and the legal fraternity, rather than to the government or opposition.

In a statement titled “Duty and Loyalty: A Call to Serve,” Odhiambo emphasized that, apart from her swearing-in, she has not participated in any meetings or engagements of the panel, in accordance with a High Court order suspending its activities.

She highlighted her patriotic duty to respect, uphold, and defend the Constitution while reiterating her commitment to victims of police brutality.

“I do not work for the Government of Kenya nor the opposition; my call is to serve the people of Kenya and my learned colleagues at the Law Society of Kenya,” she stated.

Odhiambo further called on the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to drop unfounded terrorism charges against peaceful protesters and instead prosecute officers implicated in excessive use of force.

She reaffirmed LSK’s commitment to continue providing pro bono legal services to victims and survivors of police brutality in ongoing cases nationwide.
