Detectives have arrested a suspected serial drink-spiker accused of drugging and robbing passengers on long-distance buses.

The suspect, identified as Abdallah Suleiman, alias Asuu, was apprehended on Sunday at the Mariakani Weighbridge after officers boarded a Nairobi-bound bus in a sting operation.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Suleiman has been linked to several cases in which travelers were stupefied with laced food and drinks before being stripped of their money and valuables.

The incidents, reported at Mombasa Central Police Station, involved victims traveling to Kisumu, Tanzania, and Mombasa.

“Asuu is the mastermind behind drugging unsuspecting passengers travelling to Mombasa, Kisumu, Tanzania and beyond, then robbing them of their hard-earned cash and valuables while they snooze,” said the DCI.

During the arrest, detectives recovered tablets identified as Lorivan 2, alongside soft drinks and snacks suspected to have been spiked with sedatives.

Investigators believe the items were intended for the Suleiman’s next targets.

The suspect is being held at Mombasa Central Police Station and is expected to be arraigned once investigations are complete.
