Dutch national Elwin Ter Horst will be arraigned in court to face legal action after being captured on video abusing and demeaning a police officer.

In the video the visibly agitated Dutch national is seen hurling insults at officers at the Diani Police station, an incident that has been condemned by the national police service.

In a statement, the National Police Service condemned the Dutch national for directly abusing and demeaning the officers, terming the act despicable and utterly unacceptable.

This, even as the service lauded the officers for exercising restraint and displaying professionalism and composure in the face of extreme provocation.

Their conduct was hailed as a reflection of the high level of discipline and maturity expected of a law enforcement officer and serves as a model for others to emulate.

NPS says the reforms in the service continue to enhance professionalism, accountability and respect for human rights within the service.
