Echesa hospitalized at Karen Hospital

Former Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has been hospitalized at Karen Hospital.

Speaking at the hospital, Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale said that the Chairman of the Kenya Water Towers Agency was in critical condition after a wound he had recently had surgery opened and started bleeding.

Khalwale said it was unfortunate that the police were holding Echesa even as he was unwell and in need of medical attention.

Senator Khalwale who Matungu MP Oscar Nabulindo accompanied asked the police not to be misused to settle scores and instead end the alleged case against Echesa.

On Friday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohammed Amin declined to release Echesa from custody even after his lawyers Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta claimed he had pneumonia and ought to be released on bail to seek medical attention.

Echesa was driven to the DCI Headquarters and taken back to Muthaiga Police Station until today when he was taken to Karen Hospital.
