Traders at the Limuru Bus Park in Kiambu are counting their losses after a fire destroyed several businesses early Thursday morning.
According to the victims, who recounted the ordeal, they were unable to salvage anything from the blaze that started at 4 a.m.
They expressed frustration, stating that efforts to contain the fire were hampered by the delayed arrival of the county fire engines.
“The engines arrived late, hence, their efforts served no purpose,” said the angry residents.
Many affected business owners are now urging the Kiambu County government to increase the emergency disaster fund to assist fire victims.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported as investigations into the cause are underway.
