Meru journalists staged a protest in Nkubu town demanding justice for their colleagues who were assaulted by a headmaster.
The journalists protested following the arraignment of Mugambi Nguthari after attending a court case where he was on charged of assaulting two journalists and destroying their equipment worth Ksh 30,000.
After pleading not guilty to two charges before Magistrate Solomon Ng’etich, the suspect was released on a Kshs 50,000 bond or a Kshs 30,000 cash bail.
It was reported that the two journalists responded to calls from parents who alleged that their children were being abused by the headmaster.
The case will be mentioned on July 30th , 2025.
