The National Police Service is warning against acts of hooliganism during political and public gatherings.
In a strong-worded statement, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eliud Lagat, fired a warning shot at politicians and individuals bankrolling criminal gangs to cause chaos during gatherings, saying that they will be dealt with accordingly.
Lagat, who was speaking during a high-level security meeting bringing together officers commanding police stations across Nairobi County, said acts of hooliganism have left several people nursing injuries, and that they will not be tolerated.
Lagat at the same time revealed NPS has put in place strategies to counter bandit attacks, as well as fight illicit brew and narcotics trade within informal settlements in Nairobi.
He added they were clamping down on incidences of graft within police stations as well as addressing mental health concerns among police officers.
