President William Ruto has once again defended the construction of a church at State House, Nairobi.

The Head of State, speaking after a church service held at the house on the hill, pledged to ensure the staff have adequate space for prayers.

In his statement, the President defended the church’s construction, which he had initially pledged to foot the cost of the upgrade.

He at the same time noted that the country is on course after his administration injected reforms in key sectors such as Health, Education and Agriculture.

His statement to upgrade the church comes in the wake of a High Court ruling in August temporarily suspending the constructing of a permanent church within the precincts of State House, Nairobi, or any other State Lodge, pending the determination of a petition challenging the move.

The petition filed by Transparency International Kenya and the Kenya Human Rights Commission will be mentioned on the 18th of November 2025.
