Kenyan investors can now trade tokenized stocks of global firms after cryptocurrency exchange platform Bitget integrated its Onchain trading platform with xStock.
Through the platform, the firm says Kenyan traders will be able to trade tokenized shares of companies listed on US stock markets.
Tokenization involves the creation of digital tokens of listed firms on blockchain which are backed by their actual traded shares.
“Tokenization is the next frontier in finance allowing everyday investors in Kenya to access Wall Street with ease,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget.
Through a new integration with xStocks, Bitget users in Kenya will trade blockchain-based versions of major U.S. company shares, without the need for traditional brokers, forex conversions, or complex international platforms.
“Our xStocks and Ondo integration marks a leap forward in giving Kenyans diversified, borderless asset exposure,” added Chen.
According to Chen, the move marks a significant milestone for financial inclusion in the region, as it provides everyday investors with direct exposure to global markets using a crypto-native interface.
