Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has died at the age of 80.
Odinga died Wednesday while undergoing medical treatment in India.
His death comes after weeks of speculation about his health, although they were dismissed.
Revered by many as Kenya’s most influential political figure, Raila served Kibra Member of Parliament from 1993 to 2013 and later served as Kenya’s Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013 following the post election violence in 2008.
His death brings to an end a six-decade journey of political struggle, reform, and resilience that defined Kenya’s multiparty democracy.
