Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo Gitau has stated that the government is keen to leverage digital platforms to enhance the Business-to-Business (B2B) model as a key priority for digital transformation.
The CS noted that Kenya is investing heavily in expanding infrastructure, such as fibre networks, establishing digital hubs across the country, and enhancing the digital skills of citizens to take advantage of opportunities in online platforms.
Kabogo made this announcement following a meeting with European Union Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger, French Ambassador to Kenya Arnaud Suquet, Romanian Ambassador to Kenya Gentiana Serbu, Belgian Ambassador to Kenya Peter Maddens, and Henk Jan Bakker, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Kenya, as well as Alexander Fierley, Deputy Head of Mission (Germany).
“The upcoming EU-Kenya Business Forum scheduled to take place on May 12-13, 2025 in Nairobi gives Kenyan businesses opportunities to interact, connect, identify and maximize opportunities,” he said.
The CS highlighted the long-standing relationship between Kenya and the EU and urged Kenyan business owners to capitalize on the opportunities that the event will present.
He noted that over 500 businesses from the EU have already expressed interest in participating.
CS Kabogo further acknowledged that Kenya’s digital skilling programme is attracting support from partners, adding that Romania has offered to provide eight scholarships in cybersecurity and other areas of digital skills.
