Muslim youths from Isiolo County have launched a food drive to support over 2,000 vulnerable Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiative, dubbed the “Iftar Walk,” involves weekly door-to-door visits to collect food donations from residents, ensuring that those in need have meals to break their fast.
Noor Sheikh, one of the youth leaders spearheading the initiative, emphasized the importance of community support, urging residents to contribute through the platform. “This is a time for unity and compassion. Through these donations, we can make sure no one goes hungry during this sacred period,” he said.
Ismail Alio, another organizer, highlighted the impact of the drive, noting that many vulnerable Muslims would now have access to meals for Iftar.
He said Some of them had no certainty of where their next meal would come from. This initiative brings hope for such people.
Fardosa Daud, a dedicated volunteer, expressed optimism about expanding the effort beyond Ramadan.
She said the initiative would not stop at the already achieved milestones but said the aim was to establish long-term solutions to fight hunger in the community.
The initiative has inspired a wave of generosity across Isiolo, showcasing the power of community-driven efforts in uplifting the less fortunate.
