Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has reiterated the government’s commitment to implement the recommendations arising from the assessment of the visiting Confederation of Africa Football,CAF inspectors ahead of the 2025 Africa Nations Championship.
The CAF officials are in the country for a three day inspection tour to assess the country’s readiness to co-host the African Nations Championship(CHAN) in August 2025, alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
“We welcome the support that CAF has accorded Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania during this critical preparation period, we do not take it for granted. I want to assure CAF that Kenya is ready, and we have aligned our systems to fully support CAF in delivering a stellar event,” said CS Mvurya.

The Cabinet Secretary made these remarks during a high-level meeting with Mr. Pierre Alain Mounguengui, CAF 3rd Vice President and President of the CHAN Organizing Committee, as the CAF delegation assessed infrastructure and logistical arrangements.
CS Mvurya noted that the three co-hosting countries are in advanced discussions on the facilitation of free movement for fans, players, and CAF officials across their borders to ensure seamless coordination during the tournament.
“The tripartite countries have progressed well in mobility discussions aimed at removing logistical bottlenecks, both at a regional level and for individual participants. We will be updating CAF soon with feedback on the decisions reached by our respective governments,” he said.
Mounguengui commended the progress and commitment demonstrated by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, while urging stakeholders to fast-track the remaining works at the designated hosting facilities to ensure full readiness ahead of the continental tournament.
The ongoing inspection tour is part of CAF’s standard protocol to evaluate venue readiness, security, infrastructure, accommodation, and coordination mechanisms.
The CHAN tournament is expected to attract thousands of fans, athletes, and officials, and serves as a key opportunity for the East African region to showcase its capacity to host international sporting events and promote regional collaboration and sports development across the continent.
