39 more suspected members of the Panga Boys gang have been arrested in Kisauni, Mombasa.
Police have intensified their crackdown in Kisauni Sub-County through a multi-agency operation to combat criminal gangs in the coastal region.
In a series of raids across several areas, including Junda, Bilima, Barisheba, Sunlight, Mwandoni, Cobra, Kadongo Grounds, Mwakirunge, and Vikwatani, the police apprehended the criminals who have been terrorising residents.
“The suspects are now locked up at Mjambere Police Station, undergoing processing, awaiting their day in court as the crackdown continues,” said the DCI.
On Tuesday, 51 suspects were arrested, and five tuk-tuks believed to be used in phone snatching crimes were seized.
This comes days after at least 120 suspects linked to the machete-wielding criminal gang were arrested in Kwale county.
It followed an incident where a gang attacked and robbed locals in Diani.
According to police, 63 suspects have already been taken to court, while police have requested 14 more days to hold 33 others under a miscellaneous application to allow for further investigations.
Another 16 suspects were arraigned in court on Tuesday, police said.
