Mount Kenya University dominates Nairobi North Conference League

Mount Kenya University posted impressive result across disciplines to emerge as the first runner up during the Kenya Universities Sports Federation,KUSF, Nairobi North Confrence League.

Mount Kenya demonstrated its superiority by prevailing in 10 disciplines. The University clinched: men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball,Woddball both men and women categories and women’s Taekwondo.

They also lifted Tables Tennis title in the men’s category, Men’s taekwondo title,men’s darts and the men’s and women’s Badminton titles.

Mount Kenya also finished second in 8 disciplines which included: men’s Basketball,athletics,Karate,swimming,table tennis in men’s category and Tennis in women’s category.

The University was also imperious securing third place finishes in 9 disciplines: Basketball (Women), Football (Women), Hockey (Men),Netball (Women), Volleyball (Men), Chess (Men), Darts (Women) and Scrabble (Men & Women)

Following the stellar showing the University was awarded the best Private University, Best Host University and the Most Punctual University

Mount Kenya University head of Sports Creative and Performing arts William Lutta reminisced on the hard work that has been put in by the university in preparing their squads for the games.

“This was a highly competitive league. Seven months of hard work, determination, sacrifice, and relentless effort have finally paid off. Congratulations to Mount Kenya University and all the awardees,”Luta said.

The dean of students, Dr. Emmanuel Owour, also expressed his satisfaction with the result achieved saying:

“These results affirm our commitment to supporting sports development as an integral part of student growth and excellence,” he noted.

Kenyatta University emerged as the overall winners of the championship,while Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) was ranked third.

Mama Ngina University College was named the most improved University at the games while St.Pauls University clinched the best fair play award.
