Suspected drug peddler arrested in Vihiga

Police officers in Vihiga Sub-County are holding a suspected drug peddler who was found in possession of three kilograms of cannabis sativa, 72 rolls of the same and a kilogram of tobacco.

The suspect was arrested following a targeted operation by officers from the National Police Service (NPS) on June 17th, 2025.

The items recovered by the police were discovered in nylon sacks and hidden in a plastic container on his premises. Officers say the suspect is now in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court.

The service noted that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug network and reduce the availability of narcotics within local communities.

Authorities have also called on the public to remain vigilant and to continue working hand in hand with law enforcement identifying and reporting drug related activities.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the threat of drug abuse and protecting the well being of citizens across the country.
