A former Registry Clerk at Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has been charged with forging a degree certificate to secure employment.

Liza Amara Anyoso was arraigned at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges.

This follows her arrest by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Investigations by the Commission established that Ms Anyoso used a falsified Bachelor of Commerce degree certificate purporting to be a genuine document from the University of Nairobi to obtain employment at NCWSC.

Consequently, she unlawfully earned salaries amounting to Ksh7.8 million.

She faced three counts: Forgery, contrary to Section 345 as read with Section 349 of the Penal Code; Uttering a false document, contrary to Section 353 of the Penal Code; and Deceiving a principal, contrary to Section 41(2) as read with Section 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, No. 3 of 2003.

“The suspect was processed at the Integrity Centre Police Station and subsequently arraigned before Ondieki, Senior Principal Magistrate, at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges”, EACC said.

She was released on a cash bail of Ksh 80,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh 1 million with one surety of a similar amount. The matter is scheduled for mention on 23rd October 2025.

The anti-graft body has reaffirmed its commitment to combating fraud and safeguarding integrity within the public service sector.
